Mt. Baker Foothills Economic Development is sponsoring a public meeting next Thursday in Van Zandt from 3-9 p.m. to allow people to submit and make comments. A panel with representatives from Wilbur Smith Associates, the L.A. based multinational consulting firm doing the Feasibility study, State Sen. Harriet Spanel, State Rep. Doug Ericksen and a few other folks are supposed to be there to hear the comments. Please note they want people to call ahead. Also note that this is the only public meeting north of Bellevue at which you can make comments scheduled at this time.

Commerce Corridor Symposium
3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thurs. June 24th
Van Zandt Community Hall, Across from Everybody’s Store on Highway 9,
Turn on right on Highway 9 off the Mt. Baker Highway just south of Deming
The symposium is an opportunity to submit your oral/or written comments with regards to the Commerce Corridor Feasibility Study being conducted by Wilbur Smith Associates for the Washington State Legislature.
The study is examining the feasibility of a public-private partnership that could build up to ten lanes of freight and passenger toll road, updated rail lines, power lines, petroleum pipelines and a hiking trail along the approximate route of Highway 9 in Skagit and Whatcom Couny’s extending south to Lewis County (Southeast of Thurston Cou.).
